Certain members of the US Congress consider the option to bring the Iron Dome system employed by the US Army in Ukraine.
According to Politico, these Congressmen offer the authority to look into the amendment in the document approved by the House Armed Services Committee’s for the fiscal year 2022. That amendment supposes sale or transfer of the weapon system to Ukraine, though it is highly unlikely that such system going to be deployed there anytime soon.
"The suggestion of selling or sending new air defense systems to Kyiv would likely increase tensions with Moscow, which has been fighting a proxy war in eastern Ukraine since 2014 and would regard such a transfer close to its border as a provocation. Russia has long complained about an American ballistic missile defense system in Romania, claiming it could be used for offensive purposes, an accusation the U.S. and NATO have dismissed", reads the article.
The Iron Dome is widely known for its reported efficiency against short-range missiles; it is extensively used in Israel since 2011, downing most of the rockets fired from Palestine.
