US Congress forbids Pentagon to cooperate with Russian company

The regulation is included to the project of defense budget for 2017, approved by the Lower Chamber

Lower Chamber of the US Congress approved the draft of defense budget for 2017. Among others, there is a regulation that forbids Pentagon to work with Russian company "Rosoboronexport", state company for export and import of defense-related products. The document was supported by 371 members of House of Representatives, 48 voted against.

This was reported by Interfax agency.

US Defense Ministry is forbidden to conclude any contracts, corporate agreements with Russian company and its subsidiaries, or to give it grants, loans or credit orders.

Pentagon head can seek to cancel the ban but only after he convinces both Chambers of the Parliament that Russia has stopped lethal weapons supply to Syria and withdrawn its agents and soldiers from Ukraine, according to the message.

Earlier it was reported that US Congress proposed to give Ukraine $150 mln for defense. According to the text of the document, it is planned to transfer funds before September 30, 2017.
