US Congress to consider resolution recognizing Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people, - Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the meeting with Speaker of the US Congress Paul Ryan raised the issue on consideration by the US Congress of resolution that would recognize Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people. Congressmen promised to step up the consideration of the resolution. This was announced by Poroshenko during the briefing on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"The meeting with US Congress Speaker Paul Ryan, Democrats leader in Congress Pelosi and congressmen, has just ended. We have received a confirmation of bilateral support of Ukraine from the Congress, the Senate. The result of the meeting is that I raised the issue of the Congressional Resolution on Recognition of the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people. We began with the delegation our stay in the United States near the memorial of genocide and received full support from the congressmen who agreed to accelerate the consideration of the resolution, "he said.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian President is concluding his visit to the US today evening (Kyiv time). It is already known that tomorrow, June 22, president will head to Brussels, where he is to meet with the heads of the European Council and the European People's Party, and will also take part in the EPP Summit.
