The Regulations Commmittee of the House of Representatives passed the respective amendments in the draft defense budget for 2022. The document now provides for 300 million of military assistance for Ukraine. It also offers to increase the American military presence on the NATO's eastern flank - in Poland, Romania and the Baltic states.
Earlier, Oksana Markarova, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States reported that the US Congress could pass this document. "We are grateful to congressmen and senators for the proposal to increase the amount of security assistance to Ukraine up to $ 300 million in the US defense budget for 2022. We very much hope that the allocation of this amount will be coordinated and approved by both chambers of the US Congress," Markarova wrote.
In order to pass the amendments and have them applied, the document needs the approval of the House of Representatives. Then, it's supposed to be passed by the US Senate. Eventually, it needs the signature of the US President.
