The United States of America conducted military exercises preparing for the event of Russian nuclear attack on the North Atlantic Alliance countries territory. This was reported by the US Department of Defense press service.
It is noted that the exercises held at a military base in Nebraska was attended by US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
When asked by journalists about the US actions in response to the aggression of the Russian Federation, the Pentagon did not tell what steps would be applied specifically.
"The United States would answer. I won’t talk about it, but it would be a limited answer. They attack us with low-power nuclear weapons. So during the exercises, we simulated a response using nuclear weapons," Esper said.
In turn, Russia is outraged by the scenario of a nuclear strike against the targets of the Russian Federation. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the United States began an "extremely dangerous game."
We recall that in 2018, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would withdraw the States from the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Short Range Missiles (INF Treaty) because Russia violated it and did not provide a report. After some time, US Secretary of State Pompeo announced that on February 2, the States will suspend their participation in the INF Treaty with Russia.
The Russian Federation has promised a “response”. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the suspension of Russian participation in the treaty on March 4.
