U.S. calls on Russia to release rest of Ukrainian prisoners

United States emphasized that "signs of a more active dialogue between Russia and Ukraine are encouraging"

The United States welcomes the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine and calls on Moscow to release the remaining Ukrainian captives. This was stated in a tweet published by the US Embassy in Ukraine.

"We welcome the news of the release of prisoners and congratulate President Zelensky and his team on the return of these Ukrainian citizens home. The signs of a more active dialogue between Ukraine and Russia are encouraging," the statement said.
 
"We are encouraged to see signs of a more robust dialogue between Russia and Ukraine. President Zelensky has made clear his commitment to achieving a diplomatic solution to the Russia-instigated conflict in eastern Ukraine.

We call on Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine and to release the many other Ukrainians who remain unjustly in Russian custody," the embassy adds.

 
Earlier, the representatives of the G7 countries congratulated the Ukrainian authorities on the success, and reported that they shared the joy of the Ukrainians on the occasion of their prisoners' return home.

The ambassadors noted that they remember those who remain in custody and hope for their speedy release.
