The US authorities announced the arrest of a tanker used to transport oil products to North Korea. This is reported by the Voice of America ​​with reference to the US Department of Justice.

It is noted that the cargo ship with a displacement of 2,734 tons belonged to a citizen of Singapore and was arrested by the Cambodian authorities in accordance with an international warrant issued by the United States. The Ministry of Justice stressed that they intend to bring criminal charges of evading sanctions and money laundering to the alleged owner of the Courageous tanker Kwek Ki Sen.

A federal court in New York ruled to confiscate the vessel.

The Justice Department said in a statement that Courageous, in violation of the law, stopped sharing information about its whereabouts with regulatory agencies. At the same time, satellite images showed that during this time he delivered oil worth $ 1.5 million to the North Korean ship Saebyol. Payments for the Courageous tanker and oil were made using US dollars in violation of US law and UN resolutions and using shell companies.
