This was reported during the emergency meeting of Security Council on April 7 by Nikki Haley, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
"The United States took a very measured step last night. We are prepared to do more. But we hope that will not be necessary. It is time for all civilized nations to stop the horrors that are taking place in Syria and demand a political solution," she noted.
Haley also stressed that not only Syrian regime bears responsibility for chemical attack in Idlib. According to her, Iran and Russia should be also held accountable for the actions of Syrian regime as they were covering criminal actions of Bashar al-Assad.
"Every time Assad has crossed the line of human decency, Russia has stood beside him," Haley told during the meeting.
"Assad did this because he thought he could get away with it. He thought he could get away with it because he knew Russia had his back. That changed last night," she also emphasized.
"The United States will no longer wait for Assad to use chemical weapons without any consequences. Those days are over," Haley noted.
Earlier it was reported that U.S. landed a missile strike on Syrian army. It was in America’s vital security interest, according to Trump. Syrian Defense Ministry claims significant damage to Shayrat airbase. The attack was treated as the retaliatory action in response to the recent chemical attack in Idlib province.
Ukraine also positively assessed the US missile strike on the airbase in Syria.
