The United States can play one of the key roles in ending the war in Donbas and returning Ukrainian territories. Relations between Ukraine and the United States may reach a new level. This was stated by the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, the presidential press service reports.
"The United States of America, as a strategic partner of Ukraine, can play a key role in ending the war in Donbas and returning Ukrainian territories. This opinion was expressed by the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak," the statement said.
Answering the question about the possible joining of the United States to the negotiations on Donbas, he noted: "There are four parties to the Normandy format. And the joining of someone new to this format is a decision of four participants."
The head of the President's Office noted that representatives of the new US administration - President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken - "know and understand Ukraine very well, understand the situation in our country." Therefore, according to Andriy Yermak, relations between the United States and Ukraine must reach a new qualitative level.
According to him, today the Ukrainian leadership already has contacts with the new US administration, and they will only develop.
A few days ago, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a working trip to the Donetsk region. Together with the president, the ambassadors of the G7 countries visited Donbas.
