In the framework of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, the official website of Ukraine’s president reports.
The parties praised a positive trend in the sphere of bilateral trade as a result of the entry into force of the DCFTA between Ukraine and the EU.
The President informed his Austrian colleague on the developments in Donbas, implementation of the Minsk agreements and further steps for de-escalation. The Presidents coordinated approaches to the promotion of the initiative on the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission throughout the occupied Donbas. Petro Poroshenko urged the Austrian leadership in the OSCE to maintain an active dialogue with the UN as regards the given issue.
The parties emphasized the importance of enhancing technical and technological capacities of the OSCE SMM for the efficient performance of the mission in Donbas.
Special attention was paid to the involvement of international partners in the joint work on de-occupation of Crimea.
Petro Poroshenko invited Alexander Van der Bellen to visit Ukraine. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
As we reported earlier, a general political discussion in the framework of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly opened in New York on Tuesday. More than 120 heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers and heads of delegations, are giving their speeches during it.
Before the beginning of the general debate, the UN Secretary General presented his annual report to the UN member states on the work of the United Nations.
