UNGA sidelines: Poroshenko met President of Turkey

Erdogan confirmed the eternal support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the preparations for the sixth session of the Strategic Council of the high level between Ukraine and Turkey that should take place in Kyiv. The press service of the Ukrainian leader reported this.

Poroshenko met Erdogan within the 72nd session of the UNGA. It is noted that the President of Turkey confirmed the eternal support of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders of Ukraine by Turkey.

The presidents remained pleased with the essential shifts at the certain strategic directions of the cooperation and they are primed to further efforts for the deepening of the strategic partnership between two countries in the practice.

The President of Ukraine condemned the persecution of the heads of the Crimean Tatars’ Mejlis by Russia, particularly Ahtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov during the meeting.

Earlier, Poroshenko claimed during his speech at the UNGA that Russia makes use of Crimea as the advance outpost for the military operation in Syria.
