The UN will hold an urgent meeting on the situation with migrants on the border of Poland with Belarus as DW reported.

"The UN Security Council on Thursday, November 11, will convene for an emergency meeting, the topic of which will be the migration crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus," the message says.

It is noted that Estonia, Ireland, and France made a decision to convene an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to resolve the crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus.

As it was reported on November 8, Belarusian journalists have published a video of a large crowd of migrants heading to the Polish border. It is noted that, according to preliminary estimates, several hundred refugees were heading for the border. Among the migrants were children.

In this regard, the Ministry of Defense of Poland has increased the level of combat readiness of troops. Currently, more than 12,000 soldiers are on duty at the border, they are in a state of combat readiness. At the same time, migrants claim that their ultimate goal is not Poland, but Germany.

Migrants have set up a camp near the Polish border. According to the Polish authorities, there are 3-4,000 illegal migrants in the immediate vicinity of the border.

Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen called on the EU countries to approve an extended sanctions regime against Belarus due to the situation with migrants on the Polish border.
