Resolution calls for immediate cessation of prohibited nuclear activity

Members of UN Security Council unanimously adopted the resolution on Friday, expanding sanction list against DPRK. This was reported by Interfax. Draft resolution was adopted by 15 votes in favor, the text was supported unanimously," diplomat Sacha Llorenty announced on the results of voting.

"The resolution, adopted unanimously by the 15-member council, sanctions four entities, including the Koryo Bank and Strategic Rocket Force of the Korean People's Army, and 14 people, including the head of Pyongyang's overseas spying operations," Reuters reports.

As it follows from the resolution, all assets of mentioned companies must be frozen.

The resolution also calls for immediate cessation of prohibited missile and nuclear activity, and confirms commitment of UN Security Council to political and diplomatic resolution of tension on Korean peninsula.

At the same time, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley stressed: “North Korea’s provocative and illegal missile launches are a direct threat to the security of numerous countries, including my own. Each North Korean rocket has the potential to hit an airplane or ship, which threatens civilian lives.”
