President Petro Poroshenko expressed confidence that the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Donbas can become a firm guarantor of peace. This is stated in a message on his Facebook page.

"I am confident that this mission can be a firm guarantor of the ceasefire regime, the disarmament of illegal armed formations, encourage the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territory and ensure a reliable closure of the border of the uncontrolled section between Ukraine and Russia," the president wrote.

Let us recall that today, on February 10, our peacekeepers began to return to Ukraine from Liberia, who has been there with the UN mission for 14 years.

Earlier it was reported that the President of Ukraine Poroshenko hopes that the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas will be deployed throughout the territory and block the supply of troops and weapons to militants. He also said that the Verkhovna Rada law on peacekeepers proclaims a key peaceful and political-diplomatic path, despite the fact that it regulates the military aspect as well.
