UN considers tortures' issue in occupied Crimea

The Russian representatives will be obliged to answer the questions connected to the tortures in Crimea

On July 25-26, the UN Committee Against Torture has begun the consideration of the situation in Russia as the Crimean Human Rights Group reported.

"The Ukrainian human rights activists have filed the report on the use of tortures in Crimea by Russia in 2014-2018 to the UN Committee Against Torture. Different facts on the use of the tortures spotted by the human rights activists during the occupation of Crimea," the message said.

Particularly, the human rights organization provided the information about the brutal tortures used against the political prisoners of Kremlin Kolchenko and Sentsov, "Ukrainian saboteurs" and EuroMaidan activists.

The facts about the enforced disappearance of the Crimeans, tortures for the inducement to cooperate with the special service, facts of the inhuman treatment of the prisoners in Simferopol remand center were gathered in the report.

Earlier we reported that the UN International Court once again urged Russia to cancel the ban, which prohibits the activity of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people.
