About 60 percent of the population of Ukraine is now beyond the poverty line. This figure was one of those mentioned in the report by UNDP in Ukraine, released in Kyiv on March 30. Vesti outlet wrote that on Thursday.

‘As for Ukraine, we’re talking 1.7 million of internally displaced people, 2.8 million people with disabilities… 60 percent of the population live below the poverty line’, said Neal Walker, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine.

During his report about the UN program for human development, Walker stressed that Ukraine could use experience and the important information mentioned in the report, ‘considering the country’s specific context’.

The Ukrainian government expects to lower the general poverty level by 15 percent by 2020.
