Kostyantyn Reutsky and Yevhen Vasyliev, the Ukrainian reporters and volunteers were released from the remand center in Belarus. Belarusian association of reporters said so in its message on Friday.
The men who work for Vostok SOS charity organization were held in a remand center in Okrestino, Minsk. They were apprehended on August 12.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacted to detention of the volunteers; the Embassy is taking action to find the whereabouts of the rest of apprehended Ukrainians.
As of early August 12, nine Ukrainians were detained in Belarus. A reporter was beaten up.
Earlier, we reported that Head of the European Parliament David Sassoli demands that Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko stop repressions against protesters and release all participants of rallies across the country. Otherwise, the Parliament could resort to sanctions. The respective statement appeared on the website of the EU authority on August 13.
"I call on President Lukashenko to stop the repression and refrain from further violence. The use of brutal force by the law enforcement services against its own people resulting in death and injuries should have consequences according to international law, including targeted sanctions. I call on Mr Lukashenko to immediately release those who have been detained and stop the violence in the country", he said.
