The representatives of Ukrainian parliamentary delegation in NATO Parliamentary Assembly met with Canadian colleagues invited as observers in Ukrainian elections in 2019. First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Iryna Gerashchenko reported this on Facebook.
‘Canadian friends noted that the groups of parliamentary friendship Ukraine-Canada can do more for strengthening economic cooperation between two countries. I invited our Canadian friends to visit Ukraine the next year to observe the presidential elections,’ Gerashchenko claimed.
She has also noted that the parties discussed the situation in the east of Ukraine, shared their views on a free trade area implemented by Canada.
Presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for spring 2019, and parliamentary elections to be held in autumn.
As was reported earlier, the so-called elections took place in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 11. The voters elected the leaders of "people's republics" and their representatives in the parliaments of the "republics."
A member of the Hungarian party Jobbik and a representative of Bekes regional council in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Tamás Samu Gergő visited Donbas occupied territories of Ukraine to observe the “elections” held by the militants.
