The Ukrainian delegation led by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov, as well as members of the US Senate discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the world, paying special attention to the concentration of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border. The discussion took place during the Halifax International Security Forum, the press service of the National Security and Defense Council reports on Facebook.

From the American side, the meeting with the representatives of Ukraine was attended by a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Chairman of the Subcommittee on European and Regional Security Cooperation Jeanne Shaheen, Co-Chair of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Jim Risch, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee Tim Kaine, member of the Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee Chris Coons, member of the Senate Armed Services Committee Joni Ernst and co-chair of the US Helsinki Commission Roger Wicker.

Addressing them, Danilov said that by concentrating troops on the Ukrainian border, Russia is trying to aggravate the security situation in the region as much as possible to raise rates at the table of future talks. According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Russia's recent actions, including the publication by the Russian Foreign Minister of sensitive diplomatic documents in the media, tests of the latest missile defense systems on their own satellites "show that no rules exist for them."

"Our country will not allow the 2014 situation to repeat itself and will be able to give an adequate response to the aggressor," Danilov assured US senators.

The Halifax International Security Forum is held annually in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is attended by more than 300 delegates from more than 70 countries. Topical issues of global security are discussed at the event.

"Pursuant to the instruction by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian delegation participating in the Halifax International Security Forum in Canada will inform the world community about the security situation in Ukraine and around our country," the press service of the president states.

As it was reported by Bloomberg on November 11, the USA has warned its European partners about a possible Russian military operation against Ukraine. According to the agency, Washington's assessments are based on information that the American side has not yet shared with the EU. Officials familiar with the White House say this information is backed up by publicly available evidence.

The satellite photos taken by Western experts on November 2 confirmed reports that Russia is again concentrating troops and military hardware on the border with Ukraine. The images were taken by Colorado-based US space technology company Maxar Technologies, which handed them over to Politico.

Later Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Secretary Oleksiy Danilov, in his turn, called this information “deliberate disinformation”.

At the same time, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said that Pentagon is monitoring Russian military activity near Ukraine.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell warned that if the situation on Ukraine's borders worsens, the EU will not be able to support Kyiv with troops.
