Ukrainian scrap metal suppliers violated sanctions against Moldovan metallurgical plant (Transnistria), introduced by the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC) in May 2018. Anna Kovalenko, Adviser of the Ukrainian Parliament for National Security and Defence Matters claimed this with a reference to the data of freight traffic published by “Ukrzaliznytsia”, Podrobnosti reports.
In particular, Anna Kovalenkoclaimed that 1447 tons of ferrous scrap were sent from “Zaporizhzhia-Live” station via the wagons of “Ukrzaliznytsia” in September 2018, it is planned to send 6210 tons of ferrous scrap.
According to the report of “Ukrzaliznytsia”, the freight is dedicated for Novastral Prim company and unloaded at Mateuți station, which is situated near Moldovan metallurgical plant. The freight is carried by Ukrainian transportation company, which belongs to the group called “Ukrmet” - the largest scrap metal producer in Ukraine.
Anna Kovalenko claimed with a reference to the order of “Ukrzaliznytsia” from January 24, 2018, that public railway carrier violated its internal ban regarding dispatching wagons to the territory of Transnistria.
Anna Kovalenko referred relevant documents to the NSDC, the SBU and to the Committee of the Ukrainian Parliament for National Security and Defence Matters in react for these facts.
