The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the draft law No. 5006, about the creation of Temporary Investigation Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, which is supposed to look into cases and reasons of violations of children's rights. 352 MPs upheld the document.
The draft law envisages creation of the temporary authority that would investigate such cases during the process of decentralization of authorities, which deal with these issues.
The document also foresees process of shaping of this Temporary Committee, as well as its mission and the period of action. The authority should include at least one MP from every parliamentary faction or group.
Earlier on February 18, the Ukrainian Parliament appointed Viktor Kychun judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. 237 MPs voted for the decision, with 226 necessary to pass. Kychun who was the candidate judge from Servant of the People party gets the seat in the Court instead of Mykola Melnyk who filed his resignation letter in December 2019.
