Ukrainian Parliament upholds law on "court in smartphone"

Ukrainian lawmakers supported the draft law No.5246 about the implementation of the so-called "court in smartphone". 272 MPs voted for the bill.

The draft law offers creation of information and telecommunication system of pre-trial investigation. It is supposed to collect, store, process and handling of materials and information in criminal cases.

Participants of the trial procedure will be able to use the system to protect their rights, authorities and interests.

Materials of pre-trial investigation in this system will be passed in the digital form. However, under the decision of a judge, inquiry officer, prosecutor's office, investigating judge or the court itself, they can be provided in the paper form.

All documents from the system, signed and approved by the digital signature and their copies in digital and paper forms will be considered original documents.

The unauthorized intervention in the court's work will be punished.
