The Ukrainian Parliament Regulatory Committee recommended closing the lobby of the Parliament for journalists, press photographers, camera operators and to provide them press office on the third floor. The decision was published on the site of the committee on July 9.
The committee recommended the Principal Deputy of Staff of the Ukrainian Parliament to initiate a formation of the workgroup in the Parliament’s Staff, which will develop proposals to establish a press office on the third floor, new provisions for accreditation of journalists, press photographers and camera operators and to close the parliamentarian lobby for the press.
Proposed to withdraw the accreditation of journalist, press photographers and camera operators in case they violate the law or professional ethics norms.
Recommended closing the first and the second floor for the press.
The decision is made due to the incident, which took place on May 24, 2018. The parliamentarian press photographer published a photo of two young women. One of them made an obscene gesture to the camera. Later, the girls’ name became known. Julia Makhmudi, Hromadskiy Visnik Kyeva newspaper journalist and Valeria Yehorova, Flash on Time News journalist. As a result, the relevant committee withdrew the accreditation of these two media representatives.
