Ukrainian Parliament introduces criminal responsibility for non-personal voting

The Ukrainian Parliament passed the draft law No.2148 (in the second reading and on the whole). The document foresees criminal responsibility for non-personal voting in the session hall. 261 MPs voted for the bill (with 226 necessary to pass).

The Criminal Code foresees that the deliberate non-personal voting will be punished with the fine in the amount of up to USD 3,500.

According to the law, the process of voting during plenary sessions is due to video surveillance.

If an MP sees a colleague voting on someone else's behalf, he will make this fact public and demand to stop the voting. In this case, the voting will be re-done.
