The Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, passed the document, in which it turned to the international partners due to the illegal verdict in the case of the political prisoner, Ukrainian reporter Roman Sushchenko

The Ukrainian authority blamed and protested against the verdict of the Moscow city court, saying it is 'based on the explicitly trumped-up charges and the falsified evidence, and it is another confirmation of the absence of justice in the Russian Federation, and the continuation of politically motivated persecutions of Ukrainian citizens'.

The Verkhovna Rada demanded that Russia immediately stop the deliberate violation of human rights and freedoms, cancel the illegal decision in the case of Roman Sushchenko and see to it that he returns to Ukraine without impediment.

The parliament stated that since the previous address to the foreign partners (in March 2018, - 112 International), political repressions only increased; more arrests and detentions took place in Russia, while political prisoners remain in detention.

The MPs urged their partners abroad to blame Russia's aggressive policy and increase the pressure on it, in order to stop the politically-motivated attacks and persecutions against Ukrainian citizens.
