Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Kyrylo Shevchenko as a new Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine. 332 MPs voted for the corresponding resolution № 3857. The online broadcast was conducted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"In accordance with Clause 18 of Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine resolves: To appoint Kyrylo Yevhenovych Shevchenko to the position of the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine," the text of the draft resolution reads.
It should be noted that Shevchenko has been the Chairman of the Board of Ukrgasbank since May 2015. Prior to that, he held the position of First Deputy and Executive Chairman of the Board. In 2012-2014, he was an adviser to the head of Oschadbank.
As we reported earlier, on July 3, the Verkhovna Rada supported the resolution on dismissal of Yakiv Smoliy from the position of the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Smoliy's resignation caused a lot of controversies on the part of the world community.
