Ukrainian officer assumes command over LitPolUkrbrig unit

Dmytro Bratyshko, Colonel of the Ukrainian Army took command over LitPolUkrbrig, the international military brigade. Ukraine's defensive ministry released the respective statement on Friday.

Bratyshko and other authoritative representatives of Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian armies signed the official protocol in Lublin, Poland on September 20.

The Ukrainian officer assumed the command over the brigade from his predecessor, Polish Brigade General Zenon Brzuszko.

'This is a hallmark event, and a very responsible one; Ukraine, represented by Ukrainian commander and another seventeen officers of the HQ are obliged to supported the operational opportunities of commanding LitPolUkrbrig and developing the tight cooperation in the format of this multinational military unit', Bratyshko said. 

The agreement on the creation of the brigade was signed in September 2014. The Ukrainian Parliament ratified the document in February 2015. The HQ was opened in Lublin in early 2016.
