The leader of Ukrainian pop-rock band Okean Elzy Svyatoslav Vakarchuk stated that he was not interested in the presidency. He said this during a lecture in Kharkiv, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
'I want to say once again, I am not interested in this position, I am interested in the changes in the country,' Vakarchuk said.
At the same time, the musician said that the political culture in Ukraine remained at the level of 1991.
'Consciousness has come a long way, but the political culture is still Soviet. My task is to talk not about the individuals, who have to take power, but about the political culture. This is my goal, as I see it,' the musician says.
Being asked, whether, he is a political figure or a musician, Vakarchuk replied: 'We will see'.
Earlier, it was reported that in late September, Vakarchuk and comedian Volodymyr Zelentsky appeared among the leaders of likely candidates for the presidency in Ukraine.
