Ukraine has expressed its readiness to assist Belarus in overcoming the political crisis that gripped the country after the presidential elections on August 9 and the start of protests in connection with their results. This position was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, dedicated to the human rights situation in Belarus.
"Ukraine is ready to help Belarus overcome the current crisis without weakening its sovereignty and independence," Kuleba said.
He noted that the stable and democratic development of Belarus is of key importance not only for the citizens of Belarus, but also for Ukraine and Europe as a whole
Kuleba also once again stressed that Ukraine has never interfered and will not interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus.
“I hope that every country - first of all, this concerns the Russian Federation - will follow the same position and refrain from any actions, including military intervention, that can further destabilize the situation in Belarus,” the Foreign Minister added.
