The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will resolutely protest in connection with the action of Self-determination of Zakarpattia held in Budapest near the Ukrainian Embassy. This was reported on Facebook page by the director of political department of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Olexiy Makeyev.
"It seems that Budapest, despite our too constructive diplomatic approach, is openly playing without borders. We will resolutely protest and expect that the Hungarian authorities will not support these shameful appeals," the report said.
A rally on self-determination for Zakarpattia was held near the Embassy of Ukraine in Budapest, despite Ukraine’s protest to such a provocation, as Ambassador of Ukraine to Hunfary Liubov Nepol wrote on Facebook.
The Ambassador noted that in response to Ukraine’s protests, Hungary emphasized the freedom of assembly and right to peaceful protests, in which people gather to phrase their opinion and reach some sort of joint attitude.
Hungarian radical nationalist party Jobbik organized the rally. Member of the European Parliament from this party Krisztina Morvai, who wasn’t let into Ukraine in September, took part in the protest, as well as Tamás Gaudi-Nagy, who in 2014 wore a T-shirt saying “Crimea is Russia, and Zakarpattia is Hungary” to the PACE.
As it was reported earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary informed the Ukrainian Embassy about the rally on October 13 under the slogan “Self-determination for Zakarpattia”.
Later on, speaker of the Zakarpattia City State Administration Yaroslav Galas said that Jobbik was organizing the rally.
