The Marines of the Ukrainian Navy and the subordinated artillery units held the joint exercise in Kherson region, southern Ukraine; the drill took place near the administrative border with the occupied Crimea. The HQ of the Ukrainian Navy reported this on Facebook on Wednesday.
The key mission of the exercise was successfully completed, as the troops practiced in defending the coastline and eliminating the enemy in case of the attack from the occupied territory. The artillery trained in hitting the targets and adjusting fire in the temporarily occupied areas.
The command and the staff paid special attention to actions of the artillery units in conditions of limited visibility range and in the night time.
In April, a large-scale special tactical drill of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took place at the firing range at the Azov Sea coast. The artillery, aviation, APCs, tanks and the staff of two airborne brigades participated in the drills. More than 500 soldiers and 200 vehicles joined in. A few chains of Mi-24 attack helicopters and Mi-8 transport helicopters provided the air support.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military successfully tested Myslyvets (Ukrainian for 'hunter', - 112 International), the unmanned reconnaissance and weapon system. The press service of the Cabinet posted this on Facebook. 'During the tests, the experts checked its capability to overcome obstacles, to complete a range of engineering, tehcnical and combat missions. The developers marked that the device can carry thee armement of various sorts - a machinegun, an automatic grenade launcher, a portable missile launcher, cannons, et cetera', the message says. After the tests, the system will be adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and sent to the combat area in Donbas.
