French Senator Sebastian Moran expresses his disapproval over the fact that the Ukrainian authorities have been prosecuting opposition MPs who came to Moscow in March 2020 to present the parliamentary dimension of the Normandy format.
"We're very disappointed with what's happening in terms of charges against people who seek peace in your country. But one also has to mark that reaching peace is not easy. Unfortunately, I've got to say that the French Parliament is poorly informed about the entire situation that is taking place in your country, because our media only scarcely mention these events. I'm truly sorry about the charges of people who are interested in peace in Ukraine", Moran said.
He also reiterated that the French government should pay more efforts to live up to Minsk agreements.
"To me, it's quiote important that the Senate and the National Assembly mobilize efforts and push the government, including President Emmanuel Macron, so that he takes action to reach peace", Moran added.
The Senator concluded that European governments should be seeking options to solve conflicts in eastern Ukraine, as well as Belarus and Turkey.
