The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed on the date for the introduction of the total lockdown. This was reported by Segodnya with reference to a source in the Ukrainian government.

"The two-week option was rejected. The following dates were chosen - from December 23 to January 15. Details will be known this Wednesday," the source shared.

This issue will also be discussed by the leadership of Ukraine.

The results of the meeting will be announced as soon as possible so that the population and business can prepare for the possible introduction of strict quarantine.

As we reported earlier, according to Head of the State Food and Consumer Service Oleh Ruban, the implemented weekend quarantine was not effective and did not live up to expectations of reducing the number of new Covid-19 cases.

The official believes that it is necessary to introduce a total lockdown in Ukraine in the near future.

"This should be the only solution across the entire country. It is necessary to introduce a lockdown across the country in the coming weeks. Weekend quarantine has not shown results in terms of effectiveness," Ruban said.
