The signing of the new Charter of Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the United States is a signal to Russia that Kyiv has strong allies, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated in Washington following a meeting with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and meetings of the Ukraine-US Strategic Partnership Commission, the Foreign Affairs Ministry press service reports.

"The United States support Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are grateful to our American partners for their readiness to further expand security and defense cooperation with Ukraine. The best way to deter an aggressive Russia is to let the Kremlin know that Ukraine is strong and has strong allies who will not leave it alone with the aggressor. This is exactly the signal we sent to Moscow today," Kuleba stressed.

He considers it very timely to resume the work of the Ukraine-US Strategic Partnership Commission and sign a new Charter just as Moscow is accumulating its troops on the Ukrainian border and in Belarus, amid further militarization of the occupied Crimea.
