The representatives of Ukraine, Georgia and Northern countries in the Parliamentary Assembly voted against the resolution that may end in Russia’s come back to the session hall. Volodymyr Ariev, the Head of Ukrainian delegation to PACE, the Petro Poroshenko bloc MP, wrote that on his Facebook page.
According to Ariev, the initiative “may pave the way to amendments in the rules of procedures in order to return back Russia, or may not”.
Ariev explained that it is easier for the PACE to adopt this kind of resolution than a document “with specifics”. If the PACE delegated are offered to approve a specific road-map for the unappealable Russia’s return, this will be interpreted in a completely different way, the politician added.
He underlined that the resolution was adopted with an amendment from Ukrainian delegation according to which bringing to collaborative work in the assembly “should be based on duties and fulfillment of resolutions.”
“But the Russian Federation hasn’t performed any of them (resolutions, - ed.). The only mechanism for Russia to return is amendments to the rules of proceedings. Quite specific changes, not general phrases. And until this moment, there was no talking about it,” Ariev states.
