Ukrainian court allows arresting Yanukovych, - Prosecutor General

Pechersk city court satisfies respective appeal filed by Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office

Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies received official permission to detain ex-president Viktor Yanukovych who has been enjoying political sanctuary in Russia since 2014. Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, reported on his Facebook page.

‘We’ve been working on it. The trial over Yanukovych is underway. On December 14, 2016, Pechersk city court of Kyiv provided the official permission to satisfy the respective appeal detain the suspect, Yanukovych Viktor Fedorovych,’ Lutsenko wrote.  

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General uploaded the digital copy of the court’s decision on his Facebook page.   

Previously, in late November, the ousted Ukrainian leader was officially charged with state treason and committing crimes against Euromaidan activists in late 2013-early 2014.
