The Ukrainian community in Italy expressed the solidarity with the detained soldier of the Donbas Conflict Vitaliy Markiv who is suspect in the murders of the Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli and Russian journalist Andrey Mironov in Donbas in 2014. It is claimed in the statement of the Ukrainian organizations and communities in Italy at Facebook.
'We express the solidarity to Vitaliy and his family, trusting to the Italian justice and being sure that his complete innocence will be proved during the judicial trial', the message reports.
Also, it is stated that the Ukrainian community in Italy is assured in Vitaliy innocence.
'Everybody who knows Vitaliy can characterize him as the person of the model behavior, with high sense of justice and hearty patriotic values. Vitaliy left the calm and carefree life in Italy in the difficult moment for the Motherland. He voluntarily went to defend the human rights and democratic values to Maidan and later he joined the National Guard to stop the Russian armed agression', the message says.
The Ukrainian community finds the messages in the Italian mass media as fake.
The Italian police detained the Ukrainian military Vitaliy Markiv on June 30. Markiv is suspect in the murders of the Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli and Russian journalist Andrey Mironov in Donbas in 2014. At the moment the Concul is not able to meet him due to the Italian citizenship.
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine keeps in touch with the Italian police and Markiv's advocates.
According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Markiv has two citizenships: Ukrainian and Italian.
