The Ukrainian breakfast took place on January 25 in Davos at 2018 World Economic Forum. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine delivered a speech on several important issues at the event as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.
Talking about the economy and economic development, Poroshenko claimed that 2017 was the year of the investments in Ukraine.
‘We know that we have the confidence from the investors, we have the support of the foreign advisers. I am proud that this year is the first when we have so many investments. Possibly, there was never such situation at the investments’ market as we see this year. We want to become a very important country for the investors, to become the important partner and it is an important achievement but it is also not enough. We do not want stop even until the next elections’, he said.
Ukrainian president also noted that the government assumes the steps to further the investments.
‘We continue our cooperation with the IMF. We had a wonderful meeting with Ms. Lagarde, we talked about important issues that should be done. It is my initiative right now and we speeded up everything necessary for the next meetings. We make the amendments to the tax registers; we deal with the tax issues to further the investment. If there are the investments in the county, then there will be zero for the taxes’, he added.
Moreover, the President Poroshenko spoke on the fake news and experience of Ukraine in the opposition to the hybrid war.
‘Our strategy is also a very important step for the future of the civilization. It will be very important to stick to the policy that Ukraine currently holds to protect the whole world from the fake news. Fake news is greatly coordinated and it is the part of the Russian hybrid war’, he said.
Also, Petro Poroshenko revealed his decision to run for the presidency for the second term in six months when the electoral cycle starts and the election will take place in spring 2019.
‘We have more than a year before the elections and the electoral cycle will start this autumn. My decision will depend on the success of the next six months’, he said.
