Ukrainian blogger Mykhailo Oreshnikov was detained in Indonesia at the request of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Now he is facing extradition to Russia. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
Oreshnikov was detained on November 6 at the international airport in Jakarta. The Ukrainian Embassy in Indonesia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are keeping the case under special control.
"A criminal case has been opened against the aforementioned citizen in Russia on charges of causing bodily harm. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mykhailo Oreshnikov did not legally formalize his withdrawal from Russian citizenship. Now, the detainee is at the Main Police Department in Jakarta and is awaiting confirmation of the extradition request from the Russian parties, " the message informs.
The Ukrainian consul visited the detainee, where he obtained a telephone conversation between Oreshnikov and his family. The blogger was also given personal protective equipment. It is known that he did not complain about the conditions of detention or state of health.
As we reported earlier, the major criminal group of arms dealers was exposed in Spain. There were Ukrainians among the detainees.
The detention took place on November 12 in Spanish regions Alicante, Barcelona, and Valencia. The investigation has been going on since 2018. The law enforces confiscated property and funds for 10 million euros during the special operation.
