Austrian politicians who visited the “Friends of Crimea” forum violated Austria’s neutrality and the EU regulations, as Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria Oleksandr Scherba wrote in an article for Die Presse.
“While Renat Paralamov was telling about the inexpressible suffering he had to go through, Deputy Mayor of Linz Detlef Wimmer and newly elected MP Hans-Jörg Jenewein were unpacking in posh rooms of a hotel in Yalta, where they came to testify their support for Russian annexation of Crimea,” the diplomat wrote.
According to the Ukrainian Ambassador, politicians “should follow… the obligations of their country”. “In Austria’s case, it’s the neutrality of Austria and the EU regulations. Wimmer and Jenewein violated the first and the second,” he added.
The “Friends of Crimea” forum was held in Yalta on November 6-8. The Russian officials say around 90 foreign guests attended the event.
