Ukraine's State Border Guard will not be imposing any restrictions on border crossing across the ground-based checkpoints with Belarus. The authority reported that as quoted by 112.ua news agency.
"No limitations are applied in checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine for automobile, railway, sea, pedestrian and river connection", reads the Border Guard's explanation.
The authority specified that only air connection with Belarus was ceased; the change took effect on May 26. Considering this circumstance, Ukraine's State Border Guard observed the increase of passengers' flow across the land border with Belarus.
As is known, Ukraine ceased the air traffic with Belarus on May 26, 2021, after the incident with Ryanair plane, which was on its way from Athens to Vilnius. Reporter Roman Pratasevich, the founder of NEXTA (opposition-supported Telegram channel) was aboard the aircraft. The plane was intercepted by a Belarusian fighter jet; the civilian vessel performed a forced landing in Minsk. Pratesevich was detained. The EU claimed that the Ryanair plane landed in Minsk airport because of the actions of the Belarusian fighter jet; Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary added that the forced landing was an "act of state-sponsored kidnapping".
