“It’s been 72 years since Stalin introduced his vicious order to evict Crimean Tatars from Crimea, which has already been considered the genocide of peaceful civilians. Today, Russian occupation of Crimea again brings Crimean Tatars back to the times of severe oppressions. Mejlis, the key body of self-organization of Crimean Tatars, was proclaimed an extremist organization. Russian occupants fiercely suppress any attempts to hold demonstrations that support Crimean Tatar initiatives. The fear and recognition of their own crime make the occupants ban even mournful events so that people could honor the memory of the deportation’s victims”, Andriy Parubiy said.
