The Ukrainian side in the Trilateral Contact Group announced readiness for the compromise to release Ukrainians kept in Russian Federation and in the districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It also expects the progress in solving this issue after the phone conversation between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia, as Daria Olifer, the Press Secretary of Leonid Kuchma, the representative of Ukraine to the Trilateral Contact Group, wrote on Facebook.
“The Ukrainian side is ready to the compromise to release the people kept in Russian Federation and ORDLO (Separated Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, - ed.). We hope that the phone conversation between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia will facilitate the solving of this issue,” Olifer wrote.
Besides, according to her, the Ukrainian side expects that Russia will reconsider its position concerning the significant humanitarian initiative – along with Ukraine, Russia and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to create a trilateral system of searching the missing.
Earlier, during the phone conversation, the presidents of Ukraine and Russia reached an agreement on the visit of Russia’s ombudsman to Ukraine.
In particular, it was decided that the human-rights commissioners of both states will visit the detainees soon.
Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, has already entrusted Lyudmyla Leontiivna Denisova, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine, to visit the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, Crimea and ORDLO (Separated Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, - ed.) as soon as possible.
