Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, the famous Ukrainian musician and the lead singer of Okean Elzy rock band, said he would stay away from the presidential race and would not be going for this office.
This is mentioned in the official video address by Vakarchuk that was posted recently.
'I repeatedly said that the power as such, the presidential office as such are of no interest to me. I am interested in some actual changes in the country. In order to dot the i's and lift all doubts, I officially claim: I, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, am not going to participate in the presidential elections in 2019', he said.
The musician added he could 'do more wearing jeans than wearing a tie'.
As we reported earlier, the presidential campaign in Ukraine began on December 31, 2018. The registration of the candidates is underway. The elections day is slated for March 31, 2019.
