The Minsk Agreements should be reconsidered in the part on the order of control over the border and holding of the elections in Donbas, as NV reported citing Ukraine’s representative in the political subgroup of Trilateral Contact Group in Donbas Oleksiy Reznikov.
“The new position of Ukraine is unchanged. It was announced during the Normandy Format by President Zelensky that at least (in the issue of the control over the border) Minsk Agreements should be reconsidered,” Reznikov said.
According to him, the fulfillment of the points of the Minsk Agreements is necessary to held in the next order: the disarmament of the illegal armed formations in Donbas; establishment of the ceasefire regime; withdrawal of all illegal armed formations from the territory of Ukraine; establishment of Ukrainian side over the east border; holding of elections.
“It is impossible to hold the elections if the Ukrainian border with Russia is not controlled by the Ukrainian military. It is demonstrated by international experience. Ukrainian delegation will insist on at least reconsideration and renewal of Minsk Agreements in this part,” Reznikov concluded.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed setting up a special group within the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk in order to organize a gradual return of the control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.
