Ukraine's Prosecutor's Office charged SBU officer involved in murder of protesters in 2014

During the protests near the SBU building in Khmelnytsky region, the officers of the special service used the weapon that led to the death of two people

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine served charges to an officer of the SBU in Khmelnytsky region. He is accused of the abuse of power with the violence and use of the weapon as the press service of the prosecutor's office reported.

He was served charges within the case on the use of the firearm near the entry to the building of the SBU Department in Khmelnytsky region during the peaceful protest on February 19, 2014. In the result of the mentioned events, two people died, a few persons received the bodily injuries of different severity.

The prosecutor's officers reported that one of the supposed involved in the events was determined and served charges on May 21, 2018. He is also accused of the infliction of the severe bodily injuries for the intimidation and negligent homicide.

At the moment, the issue of the restrictive measure is considered. The investigation continues, other involved are established.

As we reported the march of 'Immortal Regiment of Ukraine' took place within the celebration of the Victory Day in Moscow on May 9 and at least three former Berkut-officers suspected in the murder of 48 and injury of 80 protesters during the Maidan in February 2014 participated in it.
