Ukraine’s Prosecutor General passes statement of resignation to Poroshenko

Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko referred a letter of resignation to President Poroshenko. Spokesperson of the Prosecutor General Larysa Sarhan claimed this, Ukrainian News report.

‘Yes, he passed the statement,’ Sarhan claimed.

According to her, the statement on Lutsenko’s resignation was referred on Wednesday. Interfax-Ukraine also confirmed the information on the transfer of the letter. Larysa Sarhan has verified the information to 112 Ukraine.

The President hasn’t reacted on the statement yet.

Yuriy Lutsenko claimed on the intention to resign from the position of prosecutor general on November 6, during the report in the Parliament on the investigation of the murder of public activist Kateryna Handziuk.

‘Today, I am passing the statement of resignation to the President of Ukraine, so that there is no doubt that one clings to power. And the Parliament has to consider this matter: I am asking to do so this week. I have been and will be doing my work,’ the Prosecutor General claimed.

According to Lutsenko, his is resigning because he cannot let be the duality of power in the country when the law enforcement system is being destroyed without evidence even for solved offenses.
