Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman went to Georgia with the two-day official visit on Monday. According to the government’s press service, the Premier will negotiate with Georgia’s President Georgiy Margvelashvili, his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikasvhili and Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze. The head of the Ukrainian government will also join the big economic forum in Tbilisi.
Groysman’s visit schedule also includes meeting with Ukrainian army fighters who are currently undergoing treatment at the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Military, and the opening of the monument of poetess Lesya Ukrainka in Kakheti province.
Ukraine and Georgia are strategic partners; the overall trade turnover equals 456 million dollars, which could be increased twice – up to 1 billion. The Georgian government involves Ukrainian companies in implementing infrastructure projects in this country; the two governments actively cooperate in the New Silk Road initiative. Kyiv and Tbilisi enjoy mutual support on the way to EU and NATO membership. Georgia has also been one of the long-time supporters of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
