Andriy Parubiy, the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament has signed the law on the constitutional amendments that set the strategic course of Ukraine towards the membership in the EU and NATO. He passed the document for President Poroshenko's signature.
'Colleagues, we all dreamed of this path. So our dreams came true when we once again showed unity in the Parliament. In spite of the presidential election coming, in spite of the arguments and all the emotions, we once again showed that the Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament's official name in Ukrainian, - 112 International) takes the united position, when it comes to challenges that Ukraine faces, when it comes to the future of our statehood. We made a civilization-based choice. I'm sure it is now irrevocable and no one will be able to change it', Parubiy said.
'Which is why I immediately sign the Law of Ukraine on submission of changes to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the strategic course of the state towards full-fledged membership in the EU and NATO, and passed it for the President to sign', he concluded.
