The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Parliament intends to vote for the final amendments to the Constitution on the foreign policy on entering the EU and NATO. This should take place on the plenary session on February 7, as the website of the parliament reported.
The draft law #9037 provides the amendments to the preamble of the Constitution, according to which, the parliament confirms the European identity of the Ukrainians and irreversibility of the European and Euro-Atlantic course of Ukraine.
The Verkhovna Rada, the president and the Cabinet of Ministers should implement this course.
The norm, which allows the foreign military formations to use the working military bases on the territory of Ukraine on the terms of rent, according to the international agreements, is excluded from the transitional provisions.
Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine clearly and purposefully heads to membership in the European Union and NATO.
The Parliament sent the bill on amendments to the Constitution concerning the EU, NATO integration plan with 321 votes on September 20, 2018.
According to the bill, the President of Ukraine is the guarantor of the implementation of strategic course of the state towards Ukraine’s full membership in the EU and NATO. In its turn, the Cabinet of Ministers provides the implementation of the strategic course of the state towards Ukraine’s full membership in the EU and NATO.
Later, Ukraine’s Constitutional Court provided a conclusion to the presidential bill on amending the Constitution of the State concerning the integration of the country in the European Union and NATO.
